The Farm

The land at Manor Farm has been nurtured and cared for by generations, and continues to this day to provide the foundations for a traditional mixed farm – a working farm that all our B&B guests are free to explore.

With over 300 acres of tranquility and beauty guests can experience parts of the Cranborne Chase that many never get to see, and see the changes that are taking place as the farm focuses on the importance of Biodiversity and conservation.

Manor Farm has 150 acres of unimproved Chalk grassland which is run organically to ensure that the farm’s diverse habitat is enhanced and maintained for future generations. The farm supports a fabulous array of farmland birds and Insects and in recent years has started the slow process of establishing a pedigree flock of Wiltshire Horn Sheep.

Wiltshire Horns are the traditional breed for the area and are ideally suited to grazing the precious chalk downs. By taking this step not only are we conserving the downland we are supporting a traditional minority breed and supporting the genetic diversity of the UK sheep flock.

Our intention is to be able to supply our customers and local outlets with quality lamb and eventually beef slowly and organically grown on our beautiful Chalke Downs.

We are passionate about how we farm here. Everything that we change or develop is done with great care and consideration to the environment, the animals, and the community that we are part of, and we know that this philosophy really helps to make Manor Farm a special place for us and all our guests.
